Overview of the Project

Kite surfing is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Kite beach, is one of the ‘Mecca’s’ for all kite surfers, from beginners to the pro kite surfers.

In South Africa poverty is a reality. There are a number of townships in close proximity. Children from these townships, many with great promise, spend their weekends in the townships surrounded by bad elements and the negative influences of peer pressure.

You can teach an underprivileged child how to swim and kite surf and to enjoy the sea!

A volunteer will become a mentor for a child and will teach the child how to swim, the basics of kite surfing and how to work with the equipment.

If you have no idea how to kite surf, you will learn the skills of this wonderful sport at Kite Beach.

After finishing training, the child will receive a card allowing him or her to help other tourists and kite surfers with setting up their equipment and watching over their belongings. This will create a weekend job for the child and a chance to for them to get involved in kite surfing. Who knows, the kid you teach may become the next world champ?

No experience is necessary. Qualified kite surfers will receive a discount off their package.
