David Horn (46) was trotse eigenaar van een kiteboard winkel maar raakte in juli 2009 verzeild in een crash waarbij een gemeente bus een verkeerde inhaal manoevre deed en 5 autos tegen de vangrail kwamen, waarvan de voorste dood, 2 zwaar gewonden. Horn kon nog uit zn auto kruipen, maar zn kites gingen in vlammen op. Hij is psychisch en financieel kapot en loopt rond met een rug bracet. Hij overweegt een rugoperatie. Zn artsen hebben m verteld dat bij een val hij aan een permanente longmachine zal komen te zitten. Hij zal niet meer kunnen kiten. Sociaal opvangnet + verzekeringen zijn in de US zwaar niks en hij heeft wel een baantje kunnen regelen bij een kennis in een kiteboard winkel op South Padre Island. Zn vrouw zit 6000 kilometer bij m vandaag. De (verzekering van de) gemeente is 1 zwaar gewonde financieel tegemoet gekomen maar deze kiter krijgt geen gehoor. Er wordt een tocht voor m georganiseerd waarbij 223 man zich hebben gemeld en een oproep is gedaan om een mail te sturen aan de burgemeester van deze regio. Hier info mbt dit ongeluk:

RE: David Horn Accident involving T-Bus July 10, 2009
Dear Mayor Moncrief,
On July 10, 2009, local resident and business owner David Horn was involved in a five-car collision, caused by a T-Bus in your district. The bus hit a car from the rear, killing that individual, and that car then crashed into Mr. Horn’s car, changing his life forever physically and professionally. While other claims have been settled, due to the fact that the bus driver was found to be at fault for not controlling his speed properly, Mr. Horn’s claims continue to be denied with no plausible explanation.
I will set forth an international call to all kite boarders, world wide, to not visit this tourist destination in Texas if your city treats its residents and visitors in this not human way.
I am really astonished about the unprofessional treatment of the City of Fort Worth’s and denial of Mr, Horn and his claim. He has lost his business, is working in South Padre, 600 miles from his wife to make ends meet and should he slip or fall, could become a quadriplegic or paralyze his diaphragm, requiring him to breathe with the aid of a machine for the rest of his life. A march on City Hall from your local kitesurfing constituents totaling 221 members and growing, is planned to protest this grave injustice.
As Mayor of Fort Worth, you should take responsibility for this person his life. Please give your full attention to Mr. Horn’s case. Please fulfill your duty and do not hide or deny Government responsibility. You have the eyes of the world on you and we are anxious to see what justice or HOPE there is in the land of President Obama.
