Direct flight to Sao Vicente (Cape Verde)

For those of you wondering about the new direct flight by Transavia to Sao Vicente:
The flight can only be booked with flycaboverde (www.flycaboverde.com)

Just a reminder about the island:
- it is TOTALLY, RADICALLY different from Sal and Boa Vista
- it is still unspoilt with very little tourism (also meaning - lots of space on the water)
- because of the orientation of the main spot the season with good wind is longer (mid October - end of June)
- there are no all-inclusive big hotels (Sao Vicente is not a low-budget destination)
- there is an official restriction on number of kiters allowed on the water at the main spot at the guarded beach of Salamansa (max 18 - which has never been reached
- the landscapes (together with Santo Antao) are superb
- there is an authentic Cape Verdian culture with a fun big city (Mindelo)
- there is a lot to do and see on the island
- it is not the ideal place for total beginners (there is only a very small area with flat water)

There are no flights before October?

The first flight from Transavia is on October 7.

That's just in time for kitesurfing because  the wind gets consistent mid-October onwards.

Flights that go all year round are:
- Direct flight with TACV from Amsterdam to Sao Vicente each Thursday
- Flight via Lisbon with TAP each Saturday

TACV  (the Cape Verdian airline)  decided to keep the prices the same during Christmas.

That means you can fly direct from Amsterdam to Sao Vicente on December 19th and come back within 4 weeks for 740 euros! (last year the ticket was 1200 euros)
