Dit is wat de eigenaar/designer van Zeeko er over te zeggen heeft.Bron:
www.kiteforum.comThis system is dedicated to relaunch a big kite in light wind and to help super light riders to relaunch any sizes (lighter you are and harder it is to relaunch a kite).
Usually, riding in light wind (less than 10-15knots) it appears that the relaunching can be a "fighting with the kite" for any inflatable kites C-Shape, bow, delta (some are better than the others). When you have wind enough you can really relaunchquite easily your kite. But in light winds, this is not the same case.
Zeeko develop the ERA because we ride in light winds (using foil boards, race boards, snow boards) and relaunching a kite in light wind can cause trouble, even with a classical 5th line. Don't trust the hype and marketing claiming "we have the best relaunching", this is hype. Without a specific device, you can't relaunch easily an inflatable kite in light wind. And you need to be trained (I participate to a lot of racing contests, finishing 7th at the european racing championship at Dournenez , and even the good riders sometimes can't relaunch a kite).
With ERA, it is simple, just push the bar, grab the era handle and the kite relaunch because it pulls on the 2nd strut of the kite. No need to know how it works to relaunch the kite:
- wait the kite is on the center of the wind window
- push the bar to depower it, and don't take it on hands before the kite is in the air
- pull the ERA handle and let go it only when the kite is in the air
You relaunch a 14m as easily as a 7m.
Concerning drag, this is no more drag than a 5th line and you can tumble the kite in the waves, there is no trouble since the device is not centered.
Scepticist are the ones who never tried it, sorry Zeeko is not the same marketing machine than the biggest company. On the paper it seems unnecessary specially with all the hypes around relaunching, but when you try it, you don't want to leave it and this is not a "bad design resolved by an additionnal feature", in normal winds you don't need it, except if you want to relaunch a kite quicker (it can be interested in waves for a super quick relaunching)
Here a short vid' on snow
