KiteMag.gr Press Release 7-June-2011
The meeting between KiteMag.gr Editorial Team and Secretary General of Security - Maritime Navigation of the Minister of Citizen Protection completed successfully today.
The meeting was suggested as a reaction of Secretary General Office to the protest letter that was sent by KiteMag founder and had been signed by kiters of the Greek Community.
Ministry of Citizen Protection Participants:
Secretary General & Maritime Security, Mr Christopoulos Athanasios (as President),
Director of the Port Police Coast Guard, Mr Paraskevas Panagiotis
Adjutant of the SG, Mr. Lagouros.
During the meeting, we gave a short presentation of our arguments for lifting the ban of kitesurf in beaches that have no surf clubs, followed by discussion.
Both of Secretary General and Director of the Port Police Coast Guard agreed on the bases that kitesurf should stay free as a recreation activity followed by rules that should respect swimmers and other water users.
As a result of the meeting, we received the promise that they are going to edit in high priority their last decision following the above spirit, as soon as possible (10 – 15 days).
We remind you that until then, the old circular is still valid until further notice.
We will keep you informed about the legal frame of kitesurf in Greek waters.
Thank you all for supporting our effort

Er word dus gewerkt aan nieuwe regels, maar het oude verbod is tot dan nog steeds van kracht. Sommige Grieken gaan tot die tijd ook niet het water op omdat ze nog steeds een boete riskeren:
we do not know who is to blame (yet) for the bad terms of this ridiculus circular. Maybe it is just the coast guard. We will see. The problem we have some of us with the GKRA & Paroskite is different.
It is the way they reacted and some of their opinions where we have completely different view. We expected much more from them because they participated to this circular. They are not to blame for the bad terms but for not reacting "loud" enough.
We have a big fight about this to the Greek forum...and it seems that it will continue
So, we are waiting for any changes at the next 2-3 weeks.
Until then, only to some places (e.g. Paros, probably Rhodes, etc.) the kite is completely legal.
Some of us we will continue kiting to other places just knowing that we are not protected at all.
Some of us will stop kiting for a while (because for some reasons we cannot handle any fine from the coast guard).Het heeft dus nog steeds nut om de petitie te tekenen:
