US Race Report Update
23:15 @ 18-06-09, 222 keer bekekenThursday 6-11-09
Well we are getting closer to the kite racing World Championships to take place in San Francisco Bay August 4-8. However, the excitement and energy continues to pour into the St Francis’ Thursday evening racing. It seems that everyone is starting to make a serious effort to be as prepared as they can for the Worlds and Thursday evenings make a great testing ground to see where you stand. This week there were 38 racers on the line and the wind was fairly good however a bit fluky in the 10-23 mph range. Ozone rider Geoff Headington was out of town so it was up to Chip Wasson to make a statement. On his trusty 11m Edge, Chip reeled in 1st, 1st, 1st, in three races to win the night. Of the 12 races we have had this season, Ozone’s Wasson has won 9. Rob Kindt (Ozone) had a respectable evening coming in 7th and Steve Gibson is quickly pursuing a spot in the top 10 and it would be surprising if he was not there by the next Thursday’s race.
Needless to say, Ozone is gaining some notoriety in the race scene and is evolving into “the†race kite to be on. The next race will be on June 25th and will be an excellent warm up for the ensuing long distance and course racing on the weekend of June 26-27. The long distance Bay Classic and the UltraNectar Challenge comprise probably the most grueling back to back races that are available to participate in. The Ozone Race Team will be representing in full force as they will be for the rest of this season and into the worlds.
Cheers
