Ozone and Beautiful Kenyan conditions

Earlier this year I got asked to run a 6 week kitesurf instructors course in Kenya – needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity!!!
I did a little research on the net about what to expect in Kenya in terms of waves, wind and local info, but nothing can prepare you for the kind of conditions and the friendliness of this place.

In July, I packed my 2 Ozone light XC kites, surfboard and tt and took off. We arrived at She Shale resort near Malindi after long flights and finally a death defying experience in a local taxi with the self proclaimed Kenyan version of Shumacher!!! We were greeted with coconut cocktails and 20 knots of warm and constant cross shore breeze – Heaven!!

In 7 weeks – we missed only about 5 days of kitesurfing (and one of those was hangover inflicted!) The 10m Light XC was my weapon of choice nearly every single day, from flat-water unhooked tricks to some very large and insane surf sessions along with some epic down winders……
This kite seriously rocks – for a surf junkie like me; I can’t get enough and cannot really find much fault with her. She drift beautifully, sits where she’s told and responds very quickly when her pilot gets himself into trouble. (often!)
For someone just getting into unhooked stuff, I’m finding this kite very easy and I’m progressing quickly. All the dudes who tried it, agreed that Ozone have done a great job with this kite!

On the days when it was seriously overpowered - I got to really trust and love this kite!

With such intense usage, I kind of expected the kite to fall apart, but to be honest, she is still quite crispy and not a stitch out of place.

All in all – Kenya was an amazing experience, made even better with Ozone – looks like I’ve been asked to go back in January to teach another course - thank you and Keep up the good work!
