10:45 @ 22-11-10, 137 keer bekekenWe took a bus from Xiamen to Dongshan City which took about 3 Hours. When we arrived we got an invite from the organizer to join the welcome party.
It was awesome, they brought a lot of food and drink for us, Chiness style. After that we got drunk and lost in the end of the night....
The first day in Dongshan began with the Opening Ceremony with all the riders from many countries (Australia, UK, Russia, Hongkong, Taiwan, China, Thailand…) and the local city governor with so many Chinese media and local people. Then we went to the beach for the competition at 11 am and the wind was just picking up to about 15 knots.
First we started with Course racing and the start line was on the beach. I borrowed the new Ozone Edge 13m from David (China distributor) and it was the perfect kite and size for the race.
In the afternoon we started freestyle and the wind is was very gusty, between 13-16 knots and big wave. I went out with my Ozone C4 9m to warm up myself before my heat started, but I had some bacd luck, I dropped my kite under a wave and it ripped. I had to run by quickly to get the new kite to make my heat. I met the Hong Kong Ozone distributor, who I borrowed a C4 13m from and used it for my freestyle heat. It was good enough to win my heat in the first day.
The final day started with Course race in the morning and the wind was more stable. Again I used the 13m Edge with a good power upwind and I got a good start position on the line. I was winning from the start to finish line and between me and second place was about a 3 minutes gap.
The Ozone Edge is an amazing performance kite for racing and upwind. It helped me to win the Course racing at the Dongshan kiteboarding competition 2010. After the racing we then we moved to the freetyle area. I was winning all the heats until the final where I met Christ from Australia. I was still riding the C4 13m because the wind was up and down all the time. I started my final heat with a KL3 and some styley power moves, and in the last second I made a perfect landing with power with a Slim chance. I got a good score and won the freestyle competition too.
Then the partying started...
