Andrew & Adam Koch >> 1st & 2nd Copa Playa Mexican Nationals
00:00 @ 14-01-11, 172 keer bekekenThe Koch brothers take first and second at the Copa Playa Central Event in La Ventana, Mexico. The Ozone race team is off to a great start in 2011, smashing it with the Ozone Edge kite.
With moderate winds and over 60 competitors on the starting line the first annual Copa Playa Race had an exciting start. Â Adam Koch and Joey Pasquali were out front and off to an early lead. Andrew Koch had a decent 2nd row start and managed to work to leeward of the fleet to get clear air. Â Adam had a nice lead and was showing some serious speed downwind. Andrew worked a lower lane and eventually managed to get a clear air below the rest of the fleet. Andrew was on the 2011 Ozone Edge and seemed to have a clear power advantage.
The fleet started to spread out and at the first gybe Andrew had passed Adam and Joey on the inside. Â At the halfway point of the race Andrew had a 200 meter lead and was continuing to pull away. The wind got lighter close to the finish line Adam looked to be closing the distance. Â Andrew caught one last shift rounded the last mark of the course securing his lead and taking the win.
Adam finished second after a tough battle with Joey to finish the top three places. It was clear that the course race equipment was dominate in the lighter conditions. Â Sean Farley managed an impressive 4th place on a twin tip.
A big congrats to Andrew and Adam Koch for finishing 1st and 2nd at the first annual Copa Playa Central "Mexican Nationals" Race!
