Cynthia ???Cynbad??? Brown >> 1st Lord of The wind Showdow, and 1st Copa de Playa Mexican Nationals
22:15 @ 20-01-11, 119 keer bekekenThe Mexican National event was well run and super exciting with the helicopter support team. In light wind conditions, there was a six plus mile downwind sprint along the shores of La Ventana. Coming 5th behind Andy Koch, and 1st for the women was a breeze on the 11m Edge. I was also fortunate enough to nab 3rd in the freestyle competition on my C4s!
The Lord of the Wind Showdow was blessed with good winds for the entire four day event. The first day was the ‘big air’ and was judged by the ‘Shadow Box’ technology. Every rider had the device mounted to their board, and was given 10 minutes to jump to the moon. Fellow Ozone riders, Adam Koch and Chip Wasson were going huge, but in the end, not big enough to podium. I managed to secure second place with a 26 footer on my 7m Edge.
Then the course racing commenced. Three days of back to back racing with only about 15 minutes between heats. The Expert men and women raced together, and even raced one time along with the windsurfers. For the windsurfers, legendary Kevin Pritchard was unstoppable and enjoyed a bullet on every event.
We competed in a total of 7 races. They were two laps each and more of a course/slalom setup. Super fast downwind, head to head laps at one point only 30 meters for the shore, and the super stoked spectators. With my dreamy, Edge racing machines I managed to get 4 bullets, a second and a third, to win the event! The expert men representing Ozone were Johnny Heineken 1st, Adam Koch 4th, and Chip Wasson 6th. For the start of 2011, Its pretty evident that Ozone is tearing up the Sea of Cortez!
