The IDS Pro Bar Upgrade Kit provides the parts and instructions for connecting the front control lines directly to the top of the CAS. The IDS Pro Kit provides a more direct and responsive feel in the steering of your kite. The kit also includes a swivel loop so the rider can manually un-spin his/her front lines after looping. This system works best on the "lighter" settings on all kites.
The IDS Pro Bar Upgrade Kit modifies the functionality of the IDS Control System. The IDS Pro Kit is not for everyone. It is for advanced competent riders or students under the supervision of qualified instructors.
WARNING!! The optional installation of this IDS Pro Kit will modify the IDS Landing Line: Operation instructions on page 20 of the 2010 Powerdrive IDS control system user manual. Be certain to read and understand these operation instructions and how this kit will modify them before making any decision to install the IDS Pro Kit. Once you’ve decided that the IDS Pro Kit is for you, be sure to follow the installation instructions contained within the kit.
{tab=OPERATION}
Installation of the IDS Pro Kit modifies the functionality of the Absolute Depower: Stage 2 depower operation instructions on page 20 of the 2010 Powerdrive IDS control system user manual. More specifically, the the IDS landing line will no longer be operational by activating the Main QR. To activate the IDS landing line when the IDS Pro Kit is installed you must reach up and pull the IDS activation handle located above the Centerline Adjustment Strap.
WARNING!! The IDS Pro Kit activation handle is in a location that means you must climb the de-power mainline in order to reach it. Installation of the IDS Pro Kit implies acceptance of this restricted ability to activate the stage 2 depower
The IDS Pro Kit does not modify the Depower on Demand: Stage 1 depower operation. Pushing the control bar away from the rider continues to be a method of depowering the kite and is the best defense to immediately diffuse the power of the kite so you can quickly regain control.
The IDS Pro Kit has two modes of operation: One for Pro Usage and one that may be used by Schools. The leash attachment point and the operation of the IDS kite landing function are different for each of those modes of use. They are described here below.
Pro Usage Mode In the Pro Usage mode we recommend that the rider clips his leash directly onto the harness loop. In this scenario to activate IDS the rider must simply reach up and grab the IDS activation handle and then activate the main Q/R to release the bar. In this mode, simply activating the Main QR (without holding onto the IDS activation handle) will fully release the kite from the rider. Do this only in extreme emergencies where you must detach from your kite. Be mindful of the area directly downwind of your kite as a loose kite can be dangerous to others.
This leash position allows the rider to manually un-spin the twists in their lines by physically spinning the Main QR body. It also allows the rider to spin the control bar with little chance of catching on the leash.
School Usage Mode In the school usage mode the rider is to attach the clip end of his/her leash to the stainless steel ring on the IDS activation handle. In this scenario to activate IDS the rider must simply activate the main Q/R and let go of the control bar or in the case of an un-hooked body drag simply let go of the control bar. To activate third stage of the de-power system (total release of the kite) the rider must activate the leash Q/R.
This leash position does not easily allow the spinning of the control bar.
