Ik ben van plan om een kitesurf vakantie te plannen naar Portugal. Diverse posts op dit forum gelezen en hier maak ik uit op dat het in Portugal niet echt super is qua kiten. Desalniettemin staan er hele vete filmpjes online van spots in Portugal en zou je er toch wel lekker moeten kunnen kiten als je de juiste spots weet te vinden en weersomstandigheden treft. In dit topic wil ik ff alle info mbt Portugal verzamelen, wie weet heeft iemand er iets aan.

Algarve. This is a popular destination for every level of Kite surfer; if you are looking to experience a unique European conditions in the sun all year long then this should be your first choice. Portugal has a very mild Mediterranean climate which is heavily moderated by the Atlantic ocean. Droughts are common in the south and it is far greener to the north due to slightly cooler temperatures in the winter.
The Air Temperature in Portugal ranges from 60's in the winter months to the high 90's in the summer. The Algarve encompassing the extreme south western tip of the European continent boast 100 miles of coastline with some of the most dramatic beaches to be found in Europe. It's permeated with memories of the long-ago Moorish occupation and is regarded as the garden of Portugal with beautiful flowers and in many ways resembles the coastline of Morocco just found across the Gibraltar strait.
The Algarve, has a very mild climate with nice surfing often with offshore morning breezes are extremely common. Providing great kite surfing experiences in nice size surf. This destination has been an extremely popular choice with our customers as it is very similar to Kite Surfing found in southern California and delivers decent conditions with good water temperatures. Year round wind and great scenery make kite surfing in the Algarve really special.
Our setting is the shallow warm water estuary of Alvor, a stones throw from the exciting town of Lagos. The northerly wind the ‘Nortada’ filters through the mountain range of the Serra de Monchique creating perfect year round conditions for kite surfing in the Algarve. The predominant wind in the Algarve especially between the months of May-Oct with June through to Sept being the best is the northerly wind the ‘Nortada’. The wind usually picks up through the morning until about 8pm when it blows it’s strongest at 25 knots. An awesome 5km long beach and a beautiful estuary near Lagos are the settings for this kite surfing experience.
The Alvor estuary is one of the best spots for kite surfing in the Algarve and is one of the stops on the professional kite surfing world tour each year. The estuary itself is adjoined to the ocean and hence as well as a beautiful setting is also a safe one. With the Atlantic ocean just the other side of the sand dunes, providing another perfect setting for kite surfing albeit with the more advanced kiters looking for an open ocean experience and from time to time some waves as well.
The Algarve is best suited for singles, couples and families looking to experience warm sunshine, pleasant water conditions and have the enjoyment of excellent sea food and great wine plus the bonus of a good glass of port in the evening perhaps...
