Good Evening All,

Due to insufficient wind and swell for an extreme big-air contest such as Red Bull King of the Air, competition did not get underway today (Tuesday 31 January) as planned. The first heat ran but the conditions were not enough to result in a score.

“Conditions simply weren’t as epic as we had hoped for the day,” commented Sportive Director, Sergio Cantagalli. “It’s a big air contest, not a freestyle event, afterall and the wind as it was today just didn’t offer the riders the opportunity to put on a big-air performance,” Cantagalli concluded.

Looking ahead at the weather forecast, we are optimistic that there will be favourable ‘King of the Air’ conditions on Thursday 2nd February, but as always we’ll keep you updated.

Livestream gaat zoals het er nu naar uit ziet 13:30 live en ze verwachten de wedstrijden om 15u (16u lokale tijd) te beginnen:

Wind ziet er volgens mij ook al redelijk goed uit, hij is iig aan het toenemen en komt ook al redelijk uit de goede richting.

Wind is aan het sputteren op de meting en de richting lijkt goed te zijn voor de thermiek, hopelijk trekt hij goed door tegen de avond!

The event sees Cape Town’s Big Bay play host to an elite selection (invited and through a rigorous entry process) of the world’s best kiteboarders as they go head-to-head in a unique ‘flag out’ competition format. The competition has a two-week weather window, within which riders face-off only once conditions are perfect – a consistent south-easterly wind of over 30-knots and enough swell running from which to boost their mind-bending aerial manoeuvres. Ja ja mensen de spanning wordt weer opgebouwd

Vandaag echt een lekkere sessie gehad maar nog steeds geen KOTA wind. 9M ging prima. hoe verder je van table mountain ging varen hoe zwakker de wind.

Laat big bay nou net behoorlijk ver weg liggen.

Hopenlijk donderdag indeed maar de voorspelling voor morgen lijkt ook weer anders.

Donderdag ziet er inderdaad goed uit, hij lijkt al vanaf de ochtend in de zuidoosthoek te zitten wat betekend dat we tegen het eind van de dag misschien wel ruim over de 30kn heen gaan!

Schakel net in na een lentedag op het water. Ruben VS Steven in de halve finale. Maar het is lastig te volgen, geluid loopt bij mij twee minuten achter.

Wind valt ook wat tegen, zie allemaal 9 en 10m. Vorig jaar stond er meer wind.
