Based on the M-80, one of our favourite kites in ’06, Liquid Force’s MiG is a fifth-line C redesigned with greater depower. LF understands there is still a demand for C kites in the market and answers the need with the MiG.
Setup, safety and features
Liquid Force keeps the MiG simple in its setup and effective in its safety. LF was one of the first to use a single inflation point and continues with the MiG. Options for leash connections are above and below bar. We like the ability to trim and control bar throw with the stopper ball and trim-cleat setup.
On water
The MiG is a powerful kite that will have you edging with speed and turning with command. It carries a steady and manageable pull in and out of gusts, but takes a lot of wind for the bar pressure to get too strong. While the MiG doesn’t have the rapid, pivotal turning of the Assault or the Havoc, testers are more than happy with its smooth turning and even happier with eyes-off flying. The MiG flies well with little attention required. It sits predictably in the window, making it a nice option for unhooked freestyle or launching into big jumps. This is the part where the MiG goes into overtime with testers loving the hangtime. Compared to a traditional C, the MiG proves quick to relaunch using the fifth line.
Best suited
Plenty of riders still want the performance end of C kites, and Liquid Force has tweaked this MiG for better performance and depower than you’ll remember from your old C.
